My Favorite Things Thursdays

Hello Thursday! It's time for My Favorite Things Thursdays--a linky party where you can post any product, recipe, link, app, song, book recommendation, or anything that you are into right now.

Silly Happy Sweet

I want to share one of my favorite apps called Livestrong. It's a calorie counter app that I absolutely love and used faithfully for awhile. I say "used" because I've kind of slacked off lately but am getting back on after Labor Day.

I know a lot of you are probably anti-calorie tracking. I know I was and I will never let my daughter know I do it for fear of her thinking she has to think about that. However, I do notice when I track, I'm able to fit in my jeans better. I'm also not a spring chicken and my metabolism is slowing so let the counting begin!

You can enter all your stats and select a goal and it will figure out your calorie allotment based on your goal and stats. You can adjust your goals anytimne.

I love the large Livestrong database. You can type in ANY restaurant and the entire menu is there! I haved used my LS app many times in a restaurant to make a quick call. I am often shocked at just how bad it is to eat out!

If you are a former or current Weight Watchers member, the information in the Livestrong nutrition database will allow you to find the exact number of points for ANYTHING because you have all the info (carbs, fat, protein, and fiber) in the palm of your hand to plug in! And it keeps a record of your frequently eaten foods so you can plug those in very quickly.

You can search the Livestrong database of more than 2000 activities to plug in your workout and it will deduct the number of calories you burned.

It's pretty amazing when you track every single thing how even a little cheating makes a difference. This app forces you to think about what you are putting into your mouth and even if you are anti-calorie counting, I must admit that if I have to plug it in, I think about it more and weigh whether it is really worth it or not.

Do you calorie count or does the idea make you cringe?

  3. Is this app free? I can't wait to switch my phone to iphone so I can do more interesting stuff rather than being stuck with Blackberry phones that crashes often. I do "Try" to count my calorie intake everyday and also do 30 day shred but I do cheat sometimes :( I feel bad... Thanks for sharing this app! I will keep this in mind fo sho.. :)

  4. Sounds good! Last time I counted my calories, I bought a super cute notebook and a brand new pen and didn't last a week. The app will be SO much better, since I have my phone with me all day. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Not a calorie counter but I try to be healthy. I know when I restrict eating out and booze I am happier with myself. It's all about balance for me! I like that you found an app that works for you- way to go :)
