Do You Spoonflower?

I have read so many blog posts about Spoonflower so I decided to check it out. If you don't know about Spoonflower, it is a Web site that allows you create your own fabric! The image of the pear fabric is one of my favorites. It isn't mine--it is PearPops Gumbo by LollyChops. It was recently voted Fabric of the Week and you can see why! I wish we were able to purchase other people's designs but Spoonflower doesn't currently allow that.

If you haven't checked out Spoonflower, DO IT! There is so much creativity out there. I might even give it a try sometime.

I Heart Crayons

Awhile back I posted about our crafty crayon project. Visit the link to find out how to create these fun crayons.

Around Valentines we looked for heart-shaped tins and I couldn't find them to save my life. There is heart-shaped everything on earth but the one thing I was looking for. We found a heart-shaped silicon version. I bought it and it worked fabulously. It was especially handy when it came time to pop out the frozen crayons because I could just turn the silicon inside out. This is a crazy easy craft. We have so many broken crayons from restaurants or parties they've gone to.

Since it was MiniB's birthday, I decided to make some crayon favors for the little girls at his party. Don't all little girls love hearts?

Cute Peasant Dress

The weather here hasn't been very cooperative for taking pictures of Sophia in her new dress. And my little model isn't exactly ever in the mood. Oh well!

I used Sandi Henderson's Claire pattern. I think it came out so cute (the picture doesn't do this dress justice!). MiniMe is wearing an undershirt so it kind of detracts from the cute short sleeves. This pattern is SO easy. I am going to make her a couple more for summer minus the cute apron.

If you haven't had a look at Sandi's patterns, head on over. They're cute, easy, and Sandi is one of my favorite fabric designers ever! I wish I had used her fabric on the dress but I kind of hoarde it.

Happy Birthday My Sweet Boy!

T wo years ago, my sweet little boy was born. I will never forget our excitment preparing for a boy. My favorite memory after his birth was us sleeping in my hospital bed. I was torn between my fear of squishing him by allowing him to sleep with me. But leaving him inside the cold traveling plastic bed made me so sad since we had spent the last 9 months together. But the likelyhood of me rolling on him was pretty slim since I had surgery and any movement was painful and sleep was not really happening. I would wake and he was pressed to me so I'd scoot and he'd scoot to be near me. How a swaddled little baby can scoot was beyond me but he did. My heart was immediately bonded to him. And he's had me wrapped pretty much ever since.

Cloth Dolls

I have several dolls listed in my Etsy shop. We had a fun photo shoot the other day. They're so sweet. I almost wouldn't feel bad if they don't sell!

Strawberries and Pound Cake

I discovered the most fabulous pound cake recipe. And, it is a Weight Watchers recipe (only 5 points per slice)! It is really tasty! I made two loaves and froze one.





1 spray(s) cooking spray
2 large egg(s)
3 large egg white(s)
2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
8 oz light cream cheese
3 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 1/3 cup(s) sugar
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp table salt
1 3/4 cup(s) all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat a 9-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, egg whites, vanilla extract and almond extract; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat together cream cheese and butter until blended. Beat in sugar, baking powder and salt until blended. Beat in flour and egg mixture, little by little, beginning and ending with flour.

Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake until a wooden toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, about 55 to 65 minutes.

Cool cake in pan on a wire rack.

Squares!

I am so in love with this fabric! See this post for fabric/quilt background. I'm sewing all the blue squares first. Then I'll sew the red squares and every square will alternate color.

Spring, I long for you!

We had 8 inches of snow at our Estes Park cabin this past weekend. It was beautiful but I am so ready for spring. We keep getting teased with a dose of warm weather and then snow. What a weird month it has been!
