Cute Crochet Coaster Pattern

Every single night (if we are home) I start up the burner on my stove and set my tea kettle with water upon it. Every night after about 5 minutes when the kettle whistles, every person in my household yells, "Mommy! Your tea!" As if I have no ability to hear. It happens Every. Single. Night. Without fail.

Are you a tea person? I gave up soda on New Year's Day and haven't looked back. I still miss it sometimes but I know I don't yet have the willpower to only have it "on occassion." So I love my chai tea. It's my ritual to drink my tea and take 10 minutes for myself either reading, playing a game of Suduko, or just watching a bit of a TV show.

My favorite coaster to use is my handmade crochet coaster. It's cute and girly. And it is easy to make. It literally takes about 10 minutes. I wanted to share the pattern with you. You can make a group of coasters for yourself or as a gift.

You can download the PDF of the pattern here.

InstaFriday

It's Friday and time to link up with Jeannett for InstaFriday, sharing cell phone photos from the week.

<

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was awesome this year! There were 6000 eggs and 250 of them had $1 coins in them. Each kid found at least one with money. We also found a real egg! The geese that were nesting didn't appreciate a kid picking up the egg and moving it. We put the egg back and thankfully, the goose went back to sitting on it. I can't blame the kiddo for picking it up, it was an egg afterall.

MiniB despises haircuts. I always dread taking him. For some odd reason he thinks the haircutter is going to give him a mohawk. Every single time he asks her to not give him one and every single time she reassures him that she won't. Every. Single. Time.

Brian makes fun of my doily making. I actually think the colored cotton yarn makes them a lot more modern. I just wanted a new challenge. It's pretty fun to make a doily. I get it all you grannies!

Apparently it is time to buy some new pants. MiniB looks like he's waiting for a flood.

Soccer season has started up here! Both kids are on teams though I only made it to MiniB's practic. Brian is coaching MiniMe's team.

I hope you have had a nice week!

Yummy Crochet

We just returned from vacation and while I had some downtime, I made the kids some cute crochet food!

The patterns in the book are SUPER easy and FAST. Now the kids won't stop asking me for more food. I'm in the process of making a BLT sandwich.

Crochet Mario Mushrooms

W e had a Mario Bros. birthday party for MiniB's 4th birthday. He is Mario-obsessed! I made these cute little mushrooms (pattern here) as prizes for some of the games. They are cute little guys and so easy to make!

Crochet Food

I am terrible at crocheting. I cannot follow the directions to save my life. I don't understand why I can't follow them since I have no issues with following knitting directions.
I welcome the challenge though and made some very LARGE food. My apple is huge compared to the apple in the pattern book. MiniMe said it looks like it was made for James from James and the Giant Peach. :) See what I mean below!

Thanks for all the compliments on the quilt I'm working on. Unfortunately I have to put it on the back burner because our house sold and we're moving so I have to get packing. I will take it up again after the move for sure. Until then I'll just be trying to tackle crochet food.

More Crochet

Ok, surely you've checked out Beata and her GORGEOUS crochet pillows? Her pictures are so pretty and I'm sure that in person, these pillows are even more fun! She so inspired me. I'm loving picking up crochet again. My mom taught me to crochet when I was a little girl and I've crochet many an afghan. It comes back to you like riding a bike. Go on over to Beata's blog and get inspired!

Crochet Fun

I haven't crocheted in a long time. But I've been drawn to all of the flowers I'm seeing on various blogs. We have a bedroom in our basement that I'd love to make a pillow cover or two for. Here are the colors of the duvet cover:

So, B and I had a date night Friday and had some time to kill before the movie and went to Barnes and Noble. I purchased Crochet Motifs.

I've been playing around and made a few circles. It is great and mindless fun!
